THE ROOT OF IT ALL

HOW IT STARTED

Pioneer in Specialty Coffee in the Netherlands

From the start, I believed that if you work with coffee, you take responsibility for everything that comes with it. From the people at origin to the cup that’s served. Not as an idea, but as a daily practice.

Over the years, I’ve learned that quality only exists when transparency and long-term relationships are in place. You can’t separate taste from how and where coffee is grown, traded and roasted.

Bocca was never built by following trends. It was built by staying curious, consistent and accountable, and by choosing a way of working that holds up over time.

We Value + Invest In Coffee

and the people who make it

Quality

Quality for us is not a final check, but a daily practice. Every coffee is roasted in small batches and tasted daily to make sure it stays true to its character - consistent, balanced and enjoyable to drink.

Sustainability

We work with long-term partners at origin and pay prices that reflect the true value of coffee. Sustainability is not a separate programme, but part of how we source, trade and collaborate, season after season.

Education

Sharing knowledge helps coffee travel further than the cup. We believe in explaining coffee in an accessible way. For our team, our partners and the people who drink it, so everyone understands what they taste and why.

BOCCA

The Italian word for mouth

Bocca means mouth in Italian — the place where taste, experience and conversation come together.

The hand-drawn mouth on our packaging reflects what coffee truly is for us: a craft shaped by people. From hand-picking the cherries at origin, to roasting with intention in our roastery, to the barista behind the bar.

It’s a nod to our Amsterdam roots, to 25 years of craft, and to the future we’re building. Bold, honest and unmistakably human. Those human choices are what shape the experience in the cup.

Because coffee, in the end, isn’t about theory or technical details. It’s about what happens when you take a sip.

It’s the moment you taste something.
Pause.
React.
Share a thought.

Bocca reminds us that coffee is meant to be shared, discussed and enjoyed. At home. At work. Or around a table.

We’ve been shaping specialty coffee for 25 years. Through daily choices, long-term relationships and a consistent way of working.

THE TASTE OF NOW

HOW WE WORK TODAY

Today, we taste the fruits of our 20+ years of dedication.

Every sip tells the story of careful selection, roasting, and a deep love

for the process — from bean to your tongue.

Transparancy

We believe coffee should have something to tell. That’s why we work directly with farmers and sourcing partners, building long-term relationships based on trust and continuity. Through direct trade and farmer stories, we make origin visible. Not as a label, but as part of the coffee.

Craftsmanship

All our coffee is roasted in our own roastery, in small batches and with full attention. Roasting is where knowledge meets instinct. Adjusting, tasting and refining, every day. Craftsmanship, for us, means staying close to the coffee. Knowing when to intervene, and when to let it speak for itself.

Leadership

Taking responsibility means being involved in the entire chain. From sourcing and roasting to brewing, training and serving. With our School of Coffee and espresso bar, we stay close to how coffee is experienced in practice, by baristas, partners and guests, and make sure our choices work in daily use.

We are proud to be a B-Corp!

We believe that business can be used as a force for good. In 2024, our score went up signicantly to 91.9!

The ‘mouths’ behind Bocca

Bocca is built by people.
Roasters, tasters, baristas, partners, farmers, colleagues.

Each of them brings knowledge, care and perspective to the coffee we make. Together, they shape how Bocca tastes, feels and grows. Coffee may travel far, but it’s always people who carry it forward.

BREWING TOMORROW

OUR WAY TO THE FUTURE

Open Chain

Coffee Concept

We believe the future of coffee lies in openness. An open chain, where roles, responsibilities and relationships are visible, shared and continuously improved.

By working closely with sourcing partners, sharing insights and measuring impact, we aim to make better decisions together, with care for what comes next.

Progress, to us, is not about speed.
It’s about direction.

Making Waves

Foundation

Through the Making Waves Foundation, we support projects that strengthen coffee communities beyond trade alone. From education and infrastructure to local initiatives that help build resilience at origin.

These projects exist alongside our daily work, not as compensation, but as an extension of our responsibility within the coffee chain.

Our Mission Partners

We work with mission-driven partners who share our belief that coffee can be a positive force when approached with care and intention.

By collaborating with organisations that focus on long-term impact, transparency and fairness, we continue to challenge ourselves to improve. Not just as a coffee roaster, but as a business.
