About the farmer
Jose Alfredo goes by Freddy, and it was his father Don Abel that inspired him to work in agriculture. Don Abel was focused on growing vegetables, but in the early 2000s he became interested in growing coffee because soem of his neighbours had started to do so. Don Abel and Freddy first sowed Pacas and then Pacamara seedlings on their coffee farm. Freddy remembers that it used to be easier to grow coffee, because now the climate is less predictable and tehre is a higher incidence of coffee plant diseases. However, through the years hea has learned much more about processing. Little by little, he bought his first depulper, he constructed beds to dry coffee, and he learned about washed, honey, and natural processing methods.
