When we roasted our coffees in the traditional way, we roaster “darker” for espresso en “lighter” for a filter-coffee. But along the way, we grew and learned and also started believing more in roasting in a way that truely brought out the flavours and aroma’s of the actual coffee bean. In stead of just looking at the brewing method. Resulting in; ‘The Perfect Roast’, where the beans roasted in a way that with any kind of brewing method the taste of the coffee is truely enhanced. On every product page of our coffees you’ll find an advice recipe for filter and espresso.

The enemies of coffee are oxygen, (sun)light, heat, moisture and strong scents. That’s why we recommend you to store freshly roasted coffee in a dark, dry and cool place. Coffee is at its best when it’s consumed in between one and six weeks after roasting. After that, the flavour of the coffee rapidly diminishes – even if you haven’t opened the bag. That’s why we roast your coffee as soon as we get your order. This ensures it arrives on your doorstep ready to grind. Ground coffee can be kept until 14 days which is why we recommend buying beans and investing in a coffee grinder. Our store (and webshop) has a selection of high-quality hand grinders.

There are many different ways to brew coffee. The method you use depends on your preferences because each highlight different characteristics of the beans. Most people prefer the espresso method to achieve a pure-tasting coffee. Drip methods, on the other hand, bring out the natural fruity character of coffee beans. Want to know more? Sure! The coffees are all available in our cafe at Kerkstraat 96, Amsterdam. Our experienced baristas are happy to tell you more about our coffees. Would you like to know how to make coffee yourself, or create perfect latte art? That is also possible, right next to our cafe at The Bocca School of Coffee.

AMSTERDAM
Our café-store-workshop space is at Kerkstraat 96 in Amsterdam. Drop by any day of the week for a cup of coffee and cake. Check out our range of coffees – including special editions. And take a look at the accessories we offer.

DRONTEN
Our roastery and office is located at De Regge 37 in Dronten, about an hour’s drive away from Amsterdam. It’s where we roast and package our coffee. We don’t serve coffee here, but you’re always welcome to pop in during the week and buy a bag of coffee beans (cash only).

Within the Netherlands: 250g coffee is €3,50, 250g – 24kg coffee is €6.05. Outside the Netherlands: costs depend on the weight of the order and country.

Within the Netherlands, we send all orders placed before 11:00 midday (Monday-Friday) the same day. All other orders are processed in two working days. Please note that the Specials (red packaging) may take a little longer. Please note that international orders take some more time, dependent on the specific country. We can’t accept returns on coffee due to its perishable nature. However, we really want you to be happy with your purchase. If you have any issues with our coffee, please call us within the week of receiving your order.
If your gear is faulty, we certainly want to make it right. On the other side, we can not accept returns on used gear that is in working order. Please be aware that all gear (non-coffee) items are returned or exchanged within 7 days of the purchase date.

Items purchased online can only be returned through the mail. We are not able to accept returns at our cafe location. We do not offer exchanges for coffee gear, however refunds can be applied to future orders.

Email info@bocca.nl with your name, address and reason for return. We will reply with an order number and return address. Please return the products in their original packaging – with the order number clearly written on the box.

Log in with your email address and password. Have you ordered with us before, but haven’t you created an account yet? In that case, your email address is already registered in our system, so the only thing you need to do is to request a password. Click on Lost your password? Below the left LOG IN block, fill in your email address and you directly receive an email with a link to reset your password. After that, log in to your account with your email address and the password you just created.

Afterwards, you click in the portal menu on Subscriptions. At the top, it shows your current subscription(s). Click on View to open it and click on Suspend to pause. Your subscription now has the status On hold. Would you like to reactivate your subscription? Go to your account again and click on Reactivate to do so.

In the My Bocca portal, you can cancel your subscription whenever you want. Go to www.bocca.nl and click on the icon in the right corner of the screen. Do you already have a My Bocca account? Log in with your email address and password. Have you ordered with us before, but haven’t you created an account yet? In that case, your email address is already registered in our system, so the only thing you need to do is to request a password. Click on Lost your password? Below the left LOG IN block, fill in your email address and you directly receive an email with a link to reset your password. After that, log in to your account with your email address and the password you just created.

Afterwards, you click in the portal menu on Subscriptions. At the top, it shows your current subscription(s). Click on View to open it and click on Cancel. The status of your subscription now changes into Cancelled. Please be aware that you can only cancel an unlimited subscription, after the first three months. Subscriptions with a duration of 3 or 6 months are cancelled automatically and cannot be cancelled earlier. Of course you can pause these subscriptions at any moment.

The decision for this was made because we took a closer look at our coffee range. We want to make it easier for you to choose whichever coffee suits you best. The coffee itself, obviously doesn’t change!

The idea of the classification is as follows:

GREEN

The coffees in our green line all have an accessible flavour profile and are ideal if you want to make the switch from your regular supermarket coffee and are looking for something special. These coffees are versatile, from filter to espresso and also perfect to drink with milk.

RED

The coffees in our red line are coffees that have a more complex flavour profile. They are loved by coffee drinkers that like a challenge, who like to try different coffees than usual and like a little acidity in their coffee.

This is why our coffees named: The Blend, Gusto and Ethiopia will have a red packaging in stead of a green packaging from June, 2020.

The green refers to our respect for nature. The red of refers to the soil in Ethiopia; the birthplace of coffee. The landscape silhouette stands for the ultimate feeling of being on the road: for origin, coffee pioneering, and our customer. Someone who loves traveling the world, exploring, and who will cycle the extra five minutes for the perfect cup of coffee.

According to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) specialty coffee is coffee that has been graded above 80. Specialty coffee also adheres to high quality control standards from source to roast. From trees to your table, the coffee beans should be unprocessed, free from defects, and must be of the highest grade possible.

Store-bought coffee can often be bitter, too acidic, light or over roasted, all of which don’t come close to the intense experience you’ll get when drinking specialty coffee. There are different takes on the flavor, but whatever palate you’re leaning towards, specialty coffee will surely attack the taste buds with strong and nuanced notes.

From earthy, flowery, nutty, sweet, chocolatey, acidic, fruity, and more, specialty coffee offers a complex blend of different notes, which together produce a range of sensory experiences. 

Specialty coffees are coffees at their peak and are different to other coffee because specialty coffee has been grown at the perfect altitude, at the correct time of year, in the best soil, and then picked at just the right time. All this translates into some of the most exciting and tasty coffee in the world.
